Everton will have been watching closely as Manchester United announced huge plans to build a new stadium away from Old Trafford.

The Toffees are months away from moving into the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, becoming the latest new arena in the Premier League after Tottenham.

Everton’s new stadium will become a flagship of the north for new opportunities, with Rugby League already confirmed to host an Ashes Test against Australia there.

Everton watch Manchester United developments

Given that Everton will become the blueprint in the north for new stadiums, Dan Plumley admits that Manchester United would likely go bigger with these plans.

The football finance expert insists that the Red Devils build will take years to build, though, handing Everton a large period to capitalise and generate great commercial value.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

“It will have crossed their minds,” Plumley exclusively told Goodison News.

“There’s always the chance in football that someone comes along and becomes bigger and better than you, and Everton will ride that wave across the next couple of years.

“Of course, the Manchester United stadium, even if they put their foot down, is going to take five years.

“So, Everton have got a window to capitalise, but again, put simply, on financial resources and ability to generate commercial value, you would put Manchester United ahead of Everton, so if they do build that stadium, it’s likely to get the jump on Everton in the long run.

“You cannot control that, though, it’s not Everton’s fault, that’s just the nature of the beast.”

Friedkins to take advantage of Bramley-Moore Dock at Everton

With the Rugby League Ashes test already confirmed and the new stadium being used at Euro 2028, Everton are already reaping the rewards.

The Friedkins will want the new venue open as soon as possible, as it was likely a huge incentive behind their takeover bid, with two test events now done.

Although there are still teething issues to sort out ahead of the huge move for next season, Everton are looking ahead to a massive future on the waterfront.
