Chelsea have held a historic rivalry with Liverpool in the Premier League years, as the two have frequently competed for league titles and places in the top four.
The Reds boast the more successful record of the two sides in the fixture, however there was a spell in the mid-2000s where it was the Blues who were the dominant force.

Jose Mourinho’s side at the time were on their way to back-to-back title wins, and had the edge in a fixture that had the potential to decide the fate of the league in five consecutive meetings.
Their most noteworthy victory in this time period came at Anfield in October 2005, when they piled more misery on Rafael Benitez’s Liverpool side who were enduring their worst start to a season in 13 years.

Chelsea gave Liverpool their record Anfield defeat after rare Geremi goal
The Blues won 4-1, with club legend Frank Lampard opening the scoring, before they were pegged back by a Steven Gerrard strike.
From here, it was all Chelsea though, with Damien Duff and Joe Cole finding the net before a late strike from Geremi completed their dominant victory.
The versatile Cameroon international played largely at either right-back or right-midfield during his time at Stamford Bridge, whilst also being able to feature in the middle of the park.
His strike against Liverpool was one of just four goals for the Blues, which were spread over three seasons.

Geremi’s forgotten time at Chelsea
Geremi was a big fan of Mourinho when he was at the club, with him being part of the squad who had qualified for the Champions League in Claudio Ranieri’s last campaign as manager of the club.
Despite being a regular off the bench for the Blues, he played an important part in two Premier League winning sides, as well as the FA Cup win in 2007.
