A trip to Wembley for the first time in 34 years is something for The Tricky Trees to look forward to as they stood up to the test of penalties for a third time in a row in the FA Cup to send Brighton out of the competition.
They return to Premier League action against 13th place Manchester United at the City Ground, where they are unbeaten in all competitions since November.
Nuno emphasised, "home form in the Premier League is huge for every team, we've been able to do it, due to the support we have from our fans. The City Ground is very special."
Forest are in 3rd place and can extend the gap to Chelsea to eight points, which will give them some breathing room with four more games at home to play.
Nuno Espírito Santo's side came away from Old Trafford in December with a 3-2 victory with Nikola Milenkovic scoring his first goal for the club with a 2nd minute free header from a corner, while Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood found the goals to separate the sides.
It was Ruben Amorim's fifth game in charge and Nottingham Forest accumulated 29% possession, which is their lowest all season, and this percentage was only matched in their 1-1 home draw away to Liverpool.
Forest's season picked up from then on as they strode ahead, cementing themselves within the top four going eight matches unbeaten.
Five of those games included a clean sheet, thanks in large part to Matz Sels, who was once again to the rescue in Saturday evening's penalty shootout.
The away win at Man United reinforced that the trip to Anfield where Forest startled Liverpool with a 1-0 result was not a one-off between sides of differing quality. Instead, it showed they have the ability to consistently overcome the league's recurrent challenges and customary setbacks, such as an Old Trafford fixture.
To reach the FA Cup semi-final is another piece of history and Manchester City will be their opponents at Wembley. The opportunity to improve and obtain match experience against highest level opponents, especially with European football on the cards, is vital.
Nuno said, "We’re delighted that we are going to play more matches, we’re delighted that we're going to be able to have chances to perform and improve and grow as a club, as a squad. We’re in the final stages of the season so we are delighted to be in this position."
Yet, the focus on the Premier League and European football, inevitably the overarching objective that shapes each match, is something Nuno stressed amid Forest's tight three-day turnaround.
Nuno was confident that the FA Cup's prolonged rollercoaster of emotions for the club will provide them an extra gear, despite the short recovery and preparation time.
The Nottingham Forest manager said, "I think the joy and the happiness of going through and to play at Wembley will sure give us another run."
In reference to Ryan Yates and his decisive winning penalty, Nuno highlighted how, "it was a very special moment for him. To see his smile, running all the way up the pitch after 120 minutes, I was very surprised, but it meant a lot. When you are happy and enjoying it, you always have an extra run to give. Club captain, all his life here, he's over the moon."
Having been included in the starting eleven for a little over half of Forest's Premier League games, it was a special moment for the captain, who has been a part of the club from a young age.
The midfielder will be aiming to hit form for the run-in and give Nuno a reason to select him to slot in alongside Elliot Anderson regardless of tactical approaches.
Nottingham Forest have only experienced a three day turnaround for matches on three occasions this term, so it is not something the players are particularly used to, especially with the added strain of an extra 30 minutes and penalties.
Nuno was quick to point out that there are "no excuses" heading into the Man United game, suggesting this could be a message he has already drilled into his players and staff.
He continued, "We're going to assess the players, we're going to prepare the game, and we're going to compete."
"It's very difficult on the players. They are recovering well and always being positive, so we are confident that we can perform. We try to anticipate and try to prepare before, and keep the same routines."
This could be a first league double over Man United since 1992, when Forest were led by Brian Clough. Forest are breaking records from that era nobody ever thought they would, especially given their circumstance as a club just two seasons ago.
Nuno said, "the boys have been able to break a lot of records already, this is another one."
But, Nuno confirmed Chris Wood will likely be absent once more following his hip injury from international duty with New Zealand. Nuno stated Wood was, "improving and getting better day by day."
Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to step into the role of Forest's top-scorer, as he did in their FA Cup tie. Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi may accompany him on the front line, unlike on Saturday when they were substituted on in the 61st minute.
It will be interesting to see how the three of them combine in comparison and whether much adaptation will occur. Their instinctive understanding of a pass to an area Chris Wood would occupy may suffer.
Anthony Elanga will also have an extra incentive to affect the game in transition from the wing, going up against his former club.
