Noni Madueke could swap Chelsea for Aston Villa this summer under one condition.

Aston Villa can still lift a trophy this season, with the club in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and last four of the FA Cup.

Therefore, Unai Emery will be focused on the task at hand. However, the Spaniard will likely also have one eye on the summer transfer window, which is fast approaching.

Marcus Rashford’s future remains up in the air, while a permanent transfer could be on the cards for Marco Asensio. However, it seems as though Chelsea’s Madueke is also in Villa’s sights.

Aston Villa want to sign Madueke from Chelsea

As reported by TEAMtalk (26 March), Villa will rival Tottenham and Newcastle United for Madueke’s signature, with Chelsea set to demand a fee of £60million.

Villa are leading the race for Madueke’s signature, and the West Midlands outfit have renewed optimism over a move as there are signs that Chelsea would be willing to cash in if a strong bid is made [GiveMeSport].

However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – thinks Madueke would need convincing to make the move to Villa Park.

“At this moment in time, Villa are in a better position than Chelsea,” King said.

“They’re still in the Champions League, they’re still in the FA Cup. They do need to put some league results together to help them climb the Premier League.

“However, where would Madueke play at Villa? There are plenty of players already at the club who play in his position. Looking at the situation, I think Madueke will demand to play regularly because if he isn’t, he might as well stay where he is.”

Villa must sort out Rashford’s future before signing Madueke

It would only make sense for Villa to spend big on Madueke if Rashford leaves the club after his loan spell is finished. Therefore, before making any moves, Emery’s side must get clarity on the Manchester United loanee’s situation.

If Rashford is going to stick around, there won’t be a need to spend big on Madueke. However, if the 27-year-old is planing to head back to Old Trafford or elsewhere, Madueke could be a good replacement.
