Everton are set for their legal hearing against Burnley over the summer with the Clarets seeking compensation.
Burnley want compensation from Everton’s PSR breaches in the season which they were relegated back to the Championship.
However, this may not be the only legal hearing which Everton could find themselves involved in.
David Moyes will only be concerned about what is happening on the pitch at Goodison Park ahead of what is going to be a testing month of football.
But The Friedkin Group will have an eye on what is currently unfolding in the Premier League.
Manchester City are battling their innocence against the Premier League for their own alleged financial breaches.
And there could be something in it for Everton if the reigning Premier League champions are found guilty.

Everton could file legal battle against Manchester City
If the ruling goes in City’s favour the Premier League could be receive a ‘catastrophic’ backlash from other clubs in the league.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Equally, if City are found guilty then it will open up a whole new can of worms with clubs seeking similar cases to what Burnley are against Everton.
Speaking on The Overlap, financial expert Kieran Maguire was asked about a potential case for Everton against Pep Guardiola’s side.
“I think there will be an awful lot of clubs taking legal council with a view to do we think we’ve got a good case,” he said.
“From a legal probability point of view, we do have precedent, so therefore going forward, there’ll be an awful lot of out-of-court settlements because it’s a lot cheaper than doing it and trying to get some mediation and negotiation. The lawyers will be rubbing their hands together if Manchester City lose.”
Everton have filed their latest financial report for the year ending June 2024, with further losses shared for the seventh year running.
But it seems there could be a potential compensation trial of their own for Everton if City are found guilty of breaching financial regulations.
Everton narrowly missed out on Champions League in 2014
One of the arguments that could be made was Manchester City’s title-winning 2013/14 season prevented Everton from playing in the Champions League.
Everton finished that season in fifth position in the Premier League, with Manchester City taking the crown.
2013/14 Premier League Points
1. Manchester City 86
2. Liverpool 84
3. Chelsea 82
4. Arsenal 79
5. Everton 72
However, if City are found to have breached financial regulations back in the day, then they may have prevented Everton from securing a spot in the top four.
So, although Everton are being taken to court by Burnley, they could well now have their own case to pursue in the future.
