China to Launch World’s First Flying Taxis

China's civil aviation authorities have reportedly approved two companies to deploy autonomous passenger drones, otherwise known as flying taxis.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China granted air operator certificates to EHang Holdings and Hefei Hey Airlines on Saturday, the South China Morning Post reported.

Last year, LiveScience reported that EHang planned to launch its first commercial flights in 2025, which would make it the first in the world to do so.

There are separate plans by an American company to launch flying taxis in Abu Dhabi by the end of the year.

This is a developing story and more information will be added soon.
