“We can no longer hide” – Nottingham Forest star says Champions League now very real

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels has insisted they can no longer hide from the fact Champions League football is within their reach.

[Het Nieuwsblad](https://www.nieuwsblad.be/) have an interview with the number one today in which he admits they’re now fully focused on the European competition.

Nottingham Forest currently sit third in the Premier League table, with 54 points from 29 games, putting them just four points behind Arsenal in second.

It also means they are five points ahead of Chelsea in fourth, six ahead of Manchester City in fifth and seven ahead of Brighton and Fulham in sixth and seventh.

The Champions League appears to be firmly in their grasp and Sels admits they can no longer ignore that’s a fact.

_“The top four is now a real goal. With nine games to go, we can no longer hide that,”_ he said.

Sels has been a key player in Nottingham Forest’s impressive season so far, playing in all the available minutes in the league to date.

He’s worthy of his status as number one under Nuno Espirito Santo, currently leading the Premier League clean sheets table with 12 to his name.

Sels also boasts a save percentage of 41.4%, a tally that puts him second in the league behind Alisson, who has a 42.9% record this season.

The 33-year-old is more than aware of those numbers but doesn’t pay much attention to them, insisting it’s all a team game.

_“Clean sheets are not just the work of the goalkeepers,”_ he added.

_“I’m not so concerned with those numbers. Football is about winning as a team. We’re doing well in that respect and of course I enjoy it.”_
