Forest face Red Devils this evening
First ever April 1 clash between the clubs
Nottingham Forest welcome Manchester United to The City Ground this evening with recent history on the side of Nuno Espírito Santo’s Reds.
Not only did Forest claim victory at Old Trafford back in December, when goals from Nikola Milenković, Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood secured a 3-2 win, but this fixture last season saw Nuno’s team claim the spoils.
That win Trentside in December 2023 was the first home win for Nuno since becoming Forest Head Coach earlier in the month and put an end to a run of 11 straight defeats against the Red Devils in all competitions, dating back to the mid-1990s.
Nicolás Domínguez and Gibbs-White were on the scoresheet that day in NG2, as the Reds rounded off 2023 in the best possible way.
Forest go into the match unbeaten in eight games on home soil, a run dating back to early November when Newcastle United claimed three points at The City Ground.
Dating back to 2002, Forest are unbeaten in games played of April 1, with two wins against Chesterfield and Carlisle United in that time, followed by three successive draws against Burnley, Preston North End and Wolves.
The Reds have only suffered three home defeats on home soil since 1899, with two of those losses coming in that year and 1905.
On the other hand, seven of those matches played on April 1 have ended in wins for the Reds.
Tonight’s meeting will be the first ever between Forest and Man Utd on this date.
