Arsenal remain interested in Norwegian teenager Sverre Nypan ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.

One of very few mid-season transfer sagas for Arsenal in January was their pursuit of Rosenborg 18-year-old Sverre Nypan.

Though a big deal in the winter window always seemed unlikely, Nypan appeared more attainable. For much of the window, reports suggested that the player had the choice of Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Girona.

Yet when it came to decision time, the midfielder opted to delay, staying where he is until the summer.

Arsenal’s pursuit isn’t over. Sam Dean reports for The Telegraph that Nypan remains of interest to the Gunners, as one of a number of potential deals the club might do this summer.

Before Nypan opted to stay with Rosenborg, the Gunners were hopeful that they were ahead of the competition for the signing. They’d held formal talks with the player in London, and were seemingly willing to pay the touted £10m asking price – plus significant add-ons.

That might not be the case again in the summer, but Arsenal should at least feel like they’ve set the groundwork for another attempt.

18-year-old Nypan scored eight goals and assisted 10 from midfield with Rosenborg in 2024, with their season coming to an end in December. The Eliteserien got back underway at the weekend, with Nypan making a substitute appearance in a 2-1 win.

The youngster also made his debut for the Norway u21s in September, a quick jump up the ranks after debuting for their u19s earlier the same year. He was involved with the team again over the March international break.

Nypan has a contract with Rosenborg until the end of 2026, so he could still decide to delay a move again this summer. Arsenal will need to convince him that this is the time to make the switch.
