Top Transfer Visiting Rick Pitino, St. John’s After NCAA Tournament Loss

St. John's University didn't do too well in this year's men's NCAA Tournament. It fell in the second round to the University of Arkansas, 75-66, and now RJ Luis Jr., its best player and an NBA draft prospect, is set to hit the transfer portal.

But the school does appear to have a chance at gaining a good player back from the transfer portal.

Silas Demary, a guard who is currently with the University of Georgia Bulldogs, was reportedly scheduled to meet with St. John's and its head coach, Rick Pitino, on Monday. He will then meet with the University of Connecticut and its head coach, Dan Hurley, on Tuesday.

Demary, 20, just wrapped up his sophomore season in the NCAA. He averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals a game and shot 37.4% from 3-point range this season.

He is thought to have the resume to go in the first round of this June's NBA draft, but another year in the college ranks, especially if it comes at an elite school under the right coach, could help elevate his stock even more.

The Bulldogs reached the NCAA Tournament this year, but they lost in the opening round by 21 points to Gonzaga. Demary shot just 3-of-14 from the field in that contest.
