There are just nine games left in the Premier League season, and for Wolves, one of those fixtures will be against defending Champions Manchester City.
Although just one place above the relegation zone, Wolves are fancied to retain their top-flight status thanks to the abysmal form of the three sides below them.
Before they can guarantee themselves a place in next season’s Premier League though, Vitor Pereira has some tricky games left to go, so will be keen to pick up as many points, as quickly as possible.
The Old Gold’s away tie against Manchester City wouldn’t have been a fixture the Wolves manager would’ve highlighted as a game with potential to provide points… Until now.

Pep Guardiola issues Erling Haaland injury update
Erling Haaland picked up an injury during last weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Bournemouth.
Although the Citizens booked their place in the semi-finals after squeezing past the Cherries 2-1, Pep Guardiola’s afternoon was marred after Haaland left the Vitality Stadium in a protective boot.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
“Sometimes there are years when this kind of thing happens – it has happened all season,” Guardiola told reporters, as quoted by talkSPORT.
“With all of the injuries we’ve had this season, I am so sorry for them, and I am sorry for Erling as well. I wish him a good recovery and to be back as quick as possible.”
When asked about the exact timeframe of the prolific Norwegian’s return, Guardiola added: “The doctors told me he would be out for between five and seven weeks. Hopefully, he’ll be back for the end of the season and the Club World Cup.”
There are just eight weeks left before the end of the season so Haaland’s eventual return will see him miss most of City’s remaining games.
Set to miss Wolves clash
City, like the rest of the league, have just nine league games left to play:
Apr 1: Leicester City (H)
Apr 6: Man United (A)
Apr 12: Crystal Palace (H)
Apr 19: Everton (H)
TBC: Aston Villa (H)
May 2: Wolves (H)
May 10: Southampton (A)
May 18: Bournemouth (H)
May 25: Fulham (A)
Wolves will travel to the Etihad Stadium on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 8 p.m. BST for the Premier League’s Game Week 35, but Haaland is certain to miss out.
Widely regarded as the league’s most devastating forward, Haaland’s latest injury setback is a big blow to City.
In contrast, Wolves will be delighted…
The former Borussia Dortmund star has netted eight goals in just five games against Wolves and remains the side’s most feared opponent of the modern era.
Therefore, Haaland’s impending absence will be a major boost for Pereira, regardless of who does line up against the Old Gold next month.
