Dallas Goedert Trade Rumor Has Eagles GM Spitting the Truth

In the midst of a dramatic transformation following their dominant 40-22 Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles and General Manager Howie Roseman are now addressing swirling trade rumors surrounding veteran tight end Dallas Goedert.

Speaking to reporters, Roseman remained noncommittal about Goedert's future with the organization, spitting the truth and stating simply:

"There's no update. Obviously, Dallas has been a tremendous player and person for us... The opportunities that we got into free agency with Harrison Bryant and [Kylen] Granson were just opportunities we felt were good for our football team. I know certainly that Dallas is a unique player. So really, that's kind of where we're standing."

The Eagles have already experienced significant changes this offseason, including the departure of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the New Orleans Saints as their new head coach. Several notable players have exited via free agency, including Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Mekhi Becton.

Goedert, 30, enters the final season of his four-year, $57 million contract extension. He is set to count $11.8 million against Philadelphia's salary cap this season but carries a substantial $23.8 million dead-money charge next year due to void years in his contract structure.

The financial implications of any potential trade are significant. A pre-June 1 trade would result in $21.39 million in dead money this year, while a post-June 1 move would reduce that to $7.76 million, saving the Eagles $4.05 million while distributing some dead money to next year's books.

Despite missing six games last season, Goedert remained productive when healthy, recording 42 catches for 496 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games. However, durability concerns have mounted, as he has missed 15 games over the past three seasons.

The Eagles' recent acquisitions of tight ends Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson have only intensified speculation about Goedert's future in Philadelphia. While Roseman's comments neither confirm nor deny trade possibilities, they suggest the organization is keeping all options open as they continue reshaping their roster for the 2025 season.
