Marcus Rashford has scored for the first time since falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, bagging two goals to help his loan club Aston Villa into the FA Cup semi-finals - and the debate still rages on in the Manchester Evening News comments section about who is at fault for things degrading so badly at the end of his time in Manchester.

Rashford was allowed to leave in the January transfer window with a view to boosting his transfer value in the summer. Villa have a £40 million option but after seeing him in action, other clubs may also decide that the time is right to make moves for a permanent deal.

A return to Manchester United is highly unlikely after the rift between Amorim and Rashford resulted in him being frozen out of the team. Rashford has impressed Villa fans during his short time in Birmingham with his application, and being a constant nuisance to defenders as they compete in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

The view is less rosy amongst fans further north. Reader Cantonalives says: "I think we need to be balanced. Rashford looked decent today, and decent in his last England outing versus Latvia. Firstly, weak opposition in both matches and he should shred them, but secondly and more importantly, Rashford was not doing it for us. There is no mistake by United in allowing him to leave. Any mistake is Rashford's for not doing far more to be successful in the best club in world football."

Commenter Densil writes: "I really like Rashford and am very frustrated by what has happened. And it did not start this season, it stretches back for a few seasons. The reality is he has had one standout season in the last five. He is a good player that has been playing badly for United.

"That said I don't know why these journalists, Villa fans and commentators are all excited about Rashford's recent form. He has scored one goal from open play and four assists in 12 appearances since he joined Villa on loan."

Sclarkidmt: "Let's see that against Premier League opponents. I hope he has turned a corner, but one game of actually scoring." RobDowd agrees: "Really impressing with his 2 goals in 8 games, both against a championship side. Wow."

Doublead thinks that the problem with Rashford was closer to home: "It is clearly evident that Marcus Rashford has been under unnecessary stress/pressure at Man U. This was clearly because of his salary, some individuals in the club wanted his salary to be reduced. Continue to aspire young man. Cheers to you Marcus."

It's all positives for others. Dtown14 says: "Keep playing great Marcus. We'll get 40m and 325k/week off our wage bill."
