Marcus Rashford has scored his first goals for Aston Villa, helping the club beat Preston North End to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup - and Villa fans in the Birmingham Live comments section are delighted to see Rashford and other new acquisitions contribute during an exciting time as the club chase major honours.

Villa won 3-0 against the Championship side, overcoming a frustrating first half. The results for their efforts came in the second half, with Rashford scoring from a neat pass inside the box, and converting a penalty.

Jacob Ramsey made the Preston defence sweat many times before slamming home Villa's third goal of the night. An in-form Crystal Palace now stand between Unai Emery's side and an FA Cup final.

Fans were delighted to see another good result and inspiring displays from their January transfer window loan haul. Reader Smashed says: "Villa are very patient these days and they knew that Preston would tire, then we sprung like a cobra. A good all-round performance. It was great to see Rashford getting on the score sheet with two goals, and Ramsey who I have stated before is back to his best rounded off his great performance with a super goal."

Commenter Birminghamisclaretandblue writes: "I think we knew the first half would be difficult as we struggle to open up teams who park the bus, but our quality came through in the second. Massive performances from Kamara and Ramsey, and how good was that to see Rashford get 2? Which would have been 3 if he was still on and not 2-touch Watkins.

"Wembley here we come. The biggest and best team in Birmingham now playing there at least once and possibly twice in a meaningful cup."

Chosen in 1957 says: "3 excellent performances from Kamara, Rashford and Jacob Ramsey. It's such a great feeling to have a bench with so much quality and strength. The semi-final at Wembley stadium is just deserts for an outstanding run in this competition, and the commitment that Unai's shown has shown that we can go all the way to the final."

Creation writes: "Thank you Villa for a great day. I'm really pleased for Marcus. I thought defensively we were great. I'm looking forward to the next month of football."

Mikecoolruler says: "Decent performance, especially second half, Rashford is starting to find some great form. Back line looking nicely settled finally, no more tinkering hopefully. Konsa is quality, and Mings is definitely on his way back. Wembley here we come!"

A semi-final is a momentous occasion for some fans. Villaman writes: "Great win and I am proud to be going to Wembley. Rashford's goals bode well for us as a team and him as an individual going forward, but we have some big mountains to climb starting with Brighton. We still are not clinical enough. See the Rogers and Watkins misses. We can’t do that vs the likes of PSG and other top Prem sides. Celebrate today and come out firing on all cylinders vs Brighton."
