Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has signed a new five-year contract at Wolves, ending any immediate worries over his future at Molineux.
Gomes has been an incredible performer for Wolves this term, the industrious and tough-tackling midfielder is one of the first names on the team sheet under Vitor Pereira.
The 24-year-old’s energy, ball retention and quality going forward have contributed massively to their survival bid and prompted speculation over his future.
Tottenham were linked with Gomes and looked set to allocate £100 million in an attempt to lure him and Matheus Cunha to North London.
Andre even predicted Gomes would leave Wolves in the future but, supporters can now breathe a sigh of relief after the club has tied down one of their star performers.

Vitor Pereira reacts to Joao Gomes signing new contract
On Monday, it was revealed that Yerson Mosquera signed a new contract at Wolves, keeping the Colombian in the Midlands till 2030.
There was also more delight for supporters on Tuesday as Gomes signed a new five-year deal, ending any chance of him leaving anytime soon while journalist Ben Jacobs revealed there’s no release clause in his contract.

Pereira has said Gomes is ‘top level’ previously, and the Portuguese boss has echoed a similar sentiment when reacting to this excellent news.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
“I’m very happy because Joao is a team player. He gives every time 100 per cent, in training, in the games, and he has the quality to help this team and this club to make the next step,” Pereira said via Wolves official.
“At the end of the game he’s given everything for the team, defending, attacking, supporting the teammates, and this is what we need in our team, this is the spirit we need at this club. We must come to Wolverhampton with this hunger, this spirit to help the team, help the club to grow up.
Pereira ended his assessment of the news by highlighting the Brazilian’s ‘big potential’ and his ability to become a ‘top player’.
“He’s very important because he’s a midfielder with physicality and the power to run for 90 minutes, and he’s young. He has big potential and can be a top player.”
Fosun turning a corner at Wolves
The supporters would have been worried that each of Gomes, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Cunha would all leave the club this summer.
Cunha will leave Wolves in 2025, signifying the end of his two-and-half-year stint at Molineux, but the Wanderers have no intention of selling their midfield dynamo.
As revealed above, the Wolves hierarchy haven’t inserted a release clause in Gomes’ contract – unlike with Cunha – and this suggests they intend on holding onto him long-term.
So, while there was always be a rift between the supporters and owners in Wolverhampton, Fosun are going the right way around winning some brownie points by planning for the future.
Hopefully, their summer transfer business will match the excitement surrounding the club after Mosquera and Gomes signed new deals.
