Premier League statement released as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham set to discover key dates

The Premier League have confirmed when the fixtures for the 2025/26 season will be released. There are still nine gameweeks left of the current campaign with Liverpool favourites to win the title and the three promoted teams likely to be relegated but a thrilling race for European football to be contested.

Alongside Arne Slot's side, Arsenal are expected to qualify for the Champions League by finishing second but the remaining three spots are certainly up for grabs. Chelsea will be one of the eight teams battling it out to finish in the top five and they currently sit fourth on 49 points, just above Manchester City.

Focus for Pep Guardiola's side, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, two others in the top nine, may be elsewhere however, with those three teams among the four FA Cup semi-finalists alongside Crystal Palace. As for Tottenham, it has been a very disappointing season in north London thus far with Ange Postecoglou's side in fourteenth.

Spurs are in the Europa League quarter-finals though and therefore ending the season with a trophy would certainly make it a positive one. Moving forward, all three London clubs will certainly have already started plans for pre-season, the upcoming summer window and the next campaign with a key update revealed on the latter.

As confirmed officially by the Premier League, fixtures for the 2025/26 season will be released on Wednesday, June 18. Their statement read: "The Premier League 2025/26 season dates have been confirmed, with the opening match round starting on Saturday 16 August 2025.

"The final match round will be played on Sunday 24 May 2026, when all matches will kick off simultaneously as usual. The 2025/26 season will consist of 33 weekends and five midweek match rounds.

"The schedule continues to allow more rest time for players over the festive match-round period, with no two rounds taking place within 60 hours of each other. This is in keeping with commitments made to clubs to address the congested Christmas and New Year schedule.

"The start date of 16 August allows for the maximum player rest time available – 83 clear days – from the end of the 2024/25 season.

"The season end date of 24 May 2026 ensures the Premier League season finishes ahead of the FIFA 2026 World Cup call-up period. There will be no fixture on 24 December 2025."
