Bruno Fernandes has emerged as a target for Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants reportedly valuing Manchester United's star man at £90 million - and some fans in the Manchester Evening News comments section would be willing to accept the loss of one of the club's top contributors to fund the coming rebuild of the team in Ruben Amorim's image.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has candidly spoken of the club's financial situation, and any rebuild of the squad this summer will more than likely come at the cost of one or more of the team's highly-rated assets. Fernandes arrived in January 2020, and he has been one of the club's most important players since then, scoring at big moments and proving his durability and stamina time and again.

According to the Daily Star, Real Madrid would be interested in taking on Fernandes to replace Luka Modric, who at 39 is coming to the end of his top-level playing career. The report says that Real Madrid would be willing to splash out £90 million for Fernandes, which would go some way to getting Ruben Amorim his preferred players for his system.
United will not be easily persuaded to part ways with Fernandes, and the player himself has made no noises about wanting a move away from Old Trafford.
However, some fans could be more easily swayed, looking at the long-term future of the club. Reader Goalkeeper Coach says: "Take the money and run if they offer £90 million. I have said for the last two seasons that United won't win with Bruno as the centrepiece. He is 30 and played a ton of football. He has one or two more good years, and that's it.
"United is in what Americans call a 'rebuilding year' and need the money. Look at Man City and De Bruyne; they held onto him for too long, and now he is done in the EPL and will receive little to no money for his services. The team is shedding past-their-prime old-timers, such as Casimiro, Eriksen, Jonny Evans and others, to build up with youth. Bruno can bring big bucks, sell now and get those big bucks."
Commenter Muboy writes: "Every player has a price; even Bruno, despite his importance to the current United side. The key is whether Amorim believes that the team can be made better as a whole with the replacements that could be brought in as a result of any sale. But that's how football is for every club - even Real, who let us 'pinch' Casemiro, thus proving that they have played the transfer game a good deal more smartly than United in recent times. Mind you, who hasn't!"
RociLal says: "This is a great offer for Man United to sell 30 year old Bruno and get some much needed funds to buy younger, faster team players." Ep34109 agrees: "He will be 31 next season. If the price quoted is correct we have to sell, someone will have to step up."
Others would be dead against a sale. OldFartPhil writes: "31 years old is nothing nowadays, players are much better conditioned and fitter than they were a decade ago. Bruno has at least another 5 - 7 good years left for Utd..."
Tankjr says: "Bruno is such a top class talent, that even if by some miracle we wouldn't be betting the whole farm considering selling him, I would still argue they are £110M short of his true valuation. Given who he plays for, what he earns, the form he is in, his technical ability and the years of high end football he has ahead of him.
"He's arguably the best bit of buying business we've done since Cantona, buying a 'greatest of all time'-level player for virtually nothing, but that only continues to be true while we acknowledge he's that good and not for sale at any price in my opinion."
Have your say! Should United consider a sale for Bruno Fernandes if an offer comes in? Or should be it other players that make way for Amorim's rebuild? Comment below, and join in on the conversation.
