‘One to watch’: Asmir Begovic says Everton have ‘really talented’ wonderkid who’s going to be…

Everton have a rich history in producing talented players from their academy.

Everton have brought through the likes of Wayne Rooney, Leon Osman and Ross Barkley, to name only a few.

Jarrad Branthwaite is currently flying that flag at the moment, having polished his skill set with the under-21s following a £1m transfer from Carlisle United.

Everton coaches believe Roman Dixon has a bright future at the club and he impressed on his debut against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this season.

David Moyes and his staff also expect Harrison Armstrong to be a top player and have sent him out on loan to Derby County to further his development.

Derby fans have been so impressed by Armstrong’s performances and now, Everton shot-stopper Asmir Begovic has proved an exciting insight into just how good he is.

“He’s going to be a special player, so I think one to watch over the next few years.”

Evidently, everyone in and around Everton are well aware of just how talented Armstrong is and clearly, Begovic has been impressed by the 18-year-old in training.

In fact, it’s thought Moyes was reluctant to loan Armstrong in Janaury as he felt he could make an immediate impact.

Armstrong on course to start for Everton next season

Armstrong has enjoyed a sensational loan stint in the Championship and Derby fans are desperate to re-sign him in the summer.

However, given how fast he’s developing, it seems almost inevitable that he’ll be a starter for Moyes’ first team next season.

Armstrong captained England’s under-18s during the March international break, so he’s clearly regarded as one of the best young talents in the country.

He’d be a great replacement for Orel Mangala, who is due to return to his parent club Lyon at the end of the season.
