Bernardo Silva wants to leave Man City in the summer transfer window in search of a new challenge away from the Premier League.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Silva could be part of a squad-wide overhaul this summer.

The 30-year-old feels his career at the Etihad has come to an end after winning all there is to win in England and could make a move to Spain.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Man City are braced for offers for Silva, who is attracting interest from a number of Spanish, Portuguese and Saudi clubs.

The slower tempo of football is expected to suit his talents while allowing him to wind down from the pressure and expectations at City.

Football Insider revealed in February that Silva will assess his Man City future at the end of the season.

Bernardo Silva backed to quit Man City and make La Liga move

Brown told Football Insider that six first-team stars could leave Man City as Pep Guardiola plans to overhaul his squad in the summer window.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted he could follow in the footsteps of City legend David Silva.

“It’s happened with plenty of players in the past,” he told Football Insider.

“With David Silva for example, he went back to Spain while he was still a regular for City.

“The pressure of playing and competing in the Premier League, Champions League and every other competition they’re in starts to take it’s toll.

“I think at this stage, Bernardo Silva has done all he can and won all there is to win with City.

“So now he wants to leave and go back to a league like La Liga for example, where there’s less physical demand a slower tempo to the game.

“He’s still a top player and a wonderful talent, but perhaps his City career has come to an end.

“It looks like there are going to be big changes there under Guardiola this summer so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him step away.”

Pep Guardiola plans wide-scale overhaul at the Etihad

Amid speculation about Silva’s future at the Etihad, a number of other players could be set to leave the club to make way for incoming signings.

After £180million was spent on the arrivals of Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez in January, City’s big-spending plans are set to continue.

Kevin de Bruyne could move to the MLS, while Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri’s long-term futures remain uncertain in Guardiola’s side.

Now, Brown has told Football Insider that Mateo Kovacic could leave Man City alongside six other first-team stars in a potential squad-wide overhaul.
