Microsoft has announced a major update for its Copilot+ PCs: It is now expanding access to tools previously exclusive to Snapdragon-powered devices. The update will bring Live Captions, Cocreator, Restyle Image, and Image Creator to Copilot+ PCs with AMD Ryzen AI 300 series or Intel Core Ultra 200V processors.
Live Captions provides real-time transcription and translation for audio and video content, including conference calls and podcasts. Cocreator, Restyle Image, and Image Creator are for creative tasks, like modifying images and generating visuals from text prompts.
These were previously only available on Snapdragon-powered devices such as the Surface Pro 11. Some of these updates are already available through the March 2025 Windows non-security preview update, with more PCs set to receive them in the coming months, as reported by Windows Central.
At the same time, Microsoft is continuing to add new tools exclusively for Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, such as Semantic Search, an AI-driven search tool currently being tested with Windows Insiders. Another tool is Voice Access, which lets users control their PCs using natural language voice commands.
When I first heard the news, I questioned why Microsoft would ruin the exclusivity of the Snapdragon devices, but now that they are adding more exclusive tools to the platform, it all makes sense. Either way, it's about time for the existing features to get released to a wider user base.
