(Video) Packers’ HC Matt LaFleur Makes First Public Statement About Aaron Rodgers’ Next Team

The Green Bay Packers experienced a substantial amount of success with Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur working together. In fact, their first three seasons together saw them win 13 regular season games each year. That included two trips to the NFC Championship game (2019 and 2020).

However, knowing that Rodgers’ next team is up the air, LaFleur was directly asked about him possibly joining the Minnesota Vikings.

“It would be a hell of a story, wouldn’t it?”

Earlier in the off-season numerous reports indicated that Rodgers wanted to join the Vikings as he thought it was “his best chance to win.” While Minnesota seemingly considered the idea, they wound up choosing to go in a different direction, effectively leaving Rodgers with very few options.

Now, signs point to Rodgers signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue their long wait for Aaron Rodgers to make his decision. That said, they seem fine with waiting because they know what his decision is. All signs point to Rodgers joining the Steelers.

He met with several decision-makers at the team facility, which was reportedly his idea. During that meeting, Rodgers and Steelers’ brass reportedly discussed things beyond just getting to know one another. He also had a throwing session with Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf. For all intents and purposes, it’s all but decided Rodgers will be a Steeler. If you needed any more evidence of that, Steelers President Art Rooney II said as much while speaking with reporters at the annual NFL meetings.

Rooney says he has a good feeling about Rodgers and that signs “are pointing in that direction” in terms of the four-time MVP signing with the Steelers.

If Rodgers winds up signing with the Vikings or the Steelers, he will be playing against the Green Bay Packers in 2025. Obviously, Green Bay will play Minnesota both at home and on the road, but they will travel to Pittsburgh next season. It would appear that the only way Rodgers makes a return to Lambeau is if he signs with a division rival.

A year ago, Rodgers threw 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions for the New York Jets. Despite not being the same quarterback he was just a few seasons ago, he is still among the top half of NFL starting quarterbacks. It’s possible he still has one more great year in him like Brett Favre did with the Minnesota Vikings in 2009 when he threw 33 touchdowns and led the team to the NFC Championship.
