Contact made: Wolves now hold talks with new attacking 4-3-3 manager to replace Pereira – report

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly been in talks with a potential new manager to replace Vitor Pereira.

Wolves transfers ramp up with Old Gold on course to avoid relegation

The Old Gold have once again been involved in a Premier League relegation battle this season, however, following Pereira’s arrival in December, Wolves have pulled away from the bottom three.

Pereira replaced Gary O’Neil at Molineux and signed a deal until 2026 in the Midlands, and with another year in the top flight on the cards, those behind the scenes at Wolves are now working on potential signings.

Wolves may have their next Diogo Jota in a promising young forward.

High up on the to-do list could be to find a new striker to replace Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian, who recently penned a new deal with Wolves, is still wanted ahead of the summer and recently hinted he was ready to leave the club to fight for titles.

Asked for his response to Cunha’s comments this week, Pereira said: "He knows his potential as a top player and for me it's normal that he has the ambition to fight for titles. For me, this is natural. It happens with other players at other clubs.

"The most important thing is to be committed to help the team to achieve our targets. This is the most important thing at this moment and at the end of the season we'll see."

In terms of attacking additions, Wolves are thought to be willing to pay more than £27m to sign Deportivo La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez.

Wolves are also eyeing a move to sign midfielder Sergi Altimira from Celta Vigo ahead of Manchester City, but in a surprise update, the Old Gold now appear to be looking at replacements for Pereira.

Wolves hold talks over move for Daniele De Rossi

According to reports from Italy, Wolves have held talks over a move to bring Daniele De Rossi to Molineux. It is claimed that contact was made through intermediaries as Wolves eye up a managerial change ahead of the 2025/26 season.

More than one discussion has been held between Wolves and De Rossi, who has been out of work since being sacked by AS Roma last September. De Rossi is thought to be open to a move to England and already has family connections in the country.

The 41-year-old has had two managerial jobs so far since retiring as a player, the first of which came with SPAL between October 2022 and February 2023.

Then, after taking over as interim AS Roma manager in January 2024, De Rossi was given the job on a permanent basis in the summer but didn’t last long before he was axed.

The Italian plays an attacking 4-3-3 formation, as per Transfermarkt, and by the looks of things, a move to England and Wolves could be one to keep an eye on.
