Arsenal fans are unhappy with the news that the north London derby will not be played in England.
North London derby in Hong Kong
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs both have agreed to play the north London derby outside UK. On Monday, both clubs announced that the pre-season game will be played in Hong Kong. The game will be in the Kai Tak Stadium with 50,000 seats available for the fans.
The friendly will be played on July 31. The Premier League sides will look to kickoff the 2025-26 season after that. Responses from Arsenal supporters on social media were mixed. Few worry about harsh tackles and the potential for injuries to their stars.
Other fans, however, supported the idea. They see the game as a way to increase their support in Asia. Also they think the money generated can be used for the next transfer markets as well.
The Gunners have defeated Spurs twice this season. They won their first north London derby of the 2024-25 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in September. The game ended 1-0 to Arsenal.
The north London side proved successful again when the teams faced off again at the Emirates in January. The Mikel Arteta’s squad winning 2-1 over their rivals.
