Chelsea have been very active in the transfer market in recent years, and it doesn’t look like they’re slowing down.
Blues fans are used to seeing plenty of incomings and outgoings under this Chelsea ownership.
Chelsea could sell up to eight players when the summer transfer window comes around at the end of the season.
In terms of new incomings, it’s already been confirmed by Sporting Lisbon that they have agreed to sell both Dario Essugo and Geovany Quenda to Chelsea. Essugo will move to Stamford Bridge in a few months time, while Quenda will arrive in the summer of 2026.

Chelsea have been very smart with Geovany Quenda transfer
Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via Substack that Portuguese coaches are extremely excited about the ability of Chelsea signing Quenda, who’s a key first-team player at Sporting this season.
In addition, those involved in youth football across the world have ‘been raving’ about Quenda for ages. Apparently, they believe that the Blues have been ‘very smart’ by securing the 17-year-old’s transfer.
Even though Quenda won’t be joining up with Chelsea’s squad until 2026, the club have agreed a deal for one of the most exciting teenagers in Europe right now.

At the age of 17, the Sporting winger has already played 45 first-team matches across all competitions this season. He’s scored three goals and created eight assists, too.
Quenda is deemed a ‘generational talent’ as he begins to make a real name for himself in Portugal. He’s been called up to the Portugal men’s squad a few times already, but he’s patiently waiting to make his senior international debut.

Jadon Sancho vs Geovany Quenda
Quenda is likely to play as a left-winger when he does link up with Chelsea, so it’s worth looking at how he compares to 25-year-old Blues wide man Jadon Sancho.
Here is a look at how the two wingers compare in their respective leagues this season.
Player Appearances Minutes played Goals Assists Total shots Crosses Tacles won Fouls drawn
Jadon Sancho 23 1,430 2 4 18 19 5 10
Geovany Quenda 27 1,964 2 4 39 125 13 29

While the excitement continues to grow around Quenda, it’s a reminder that Sancho has underdelivered so far since he joined from Manchester United on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy. Incidentally, Chelsea can opt out of buying Sancho if they pay a £5m penalty fee.
The Blues won’t have Quenda in their squad until the 2026/27 campaign, so they’ve got to find a solution in wide areas until then.
