Boat Work

Working perk for staff.

Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht loved the boat parade for the Super Bowl LV celebration so much he’s decided to make it an annual thing.

At least, for his front office staff.

In a sitdown with Kay Adams yesterday of FanDuelTV at the owner’s meetings held at the swanky Breakers in Palm Beach, Licht explained how he has sort of a working day off that he treats his staff to when free agency begins to die down. It’s a boat day.

Licht and his staff began this tradition last year when Licht more than once quipped that re-signing Lavonte David, Mike Evans and Baker Mayfield was worthy of a boat parade.

And so after those three huge free agents re-signed with the Bucs, Licht explained to Adams he rented out a boat and piled on his front office staff as they floated in the waters of Tampa.

But it’s not just a day to get hammered in the sun and mock people driving to and from work. Licht said he and his staff actually do work on the boat.

Last year Licht said the Bucs signed Ben Bredeson while floating on the boat. This year? The Bucs re-signed Sterling Shepard as the boat navigated waters.

No word if Bucco Bruce Arians was on board or not.
