Report: Enzo Maresca has picked out 'underrated' shot stopper as his next Chelsea goalkeeper

It has become clear in Enzo Maresca’s first season as Chelsea manager that there is one key position on the pitch where he doesn’t have the options good enough to compete in the Premier League.

Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have shared the minutes between the sticks this season, however neither have impressed greatly with the opportunities given to them.

Perhaps the most frustrating part for Chelsea fans has been the brilliant performances of Djordje Petrovic while on loan at Strasbourg, after being the number one at the club for the majority of last season.

It was reported Chelsea didn’t think Petrovic would suit Maresca and his style of play, although it seems as if neither of the current options have ticked that box either.

Maresca wants a new goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge, and it is believed having someone who is good with the ball at his feet is essential in his thinking.

Enzo Maresca picks Vanja Milinkovic-Savic as next Chelsea goalkeeper

A number of names have been mentioned as potential targets, as well as loanees Petrovic and Mike Penders who will fancy their chances at becoming the number one in West London.

One of the most recent names to be linked with a move to Chelsea is Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, who has been praised greatly for his performances in Serie A.

After recently saving a penalty from former Blue Christian Pulisic, his coach Paolo Vanoli described him as ‘underrated’.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic height

One thing that is immediately noticeable about the 28-year-old goalkeeper is his stature, with him looking a giant between the sticks.

This is down to his 6 foot 8 inches height, with him comfortably taller than Sanchez despite his immense 6 foot 6 inch frame.

Chelsea currently have the tallest player in any Premier League side in the form of Lucas Bergstrom, and he does have a slight advantage on the manager’s reported transfer target.
