Mohamed Salah is prioritising Liverpool's contract offer over a move to the Saudi Pro League - despite claims that SPL officials are confident the Egyptian will join them this summer. Salah will become a free agent this summer after failing to agree a new contract with Liverpool chiefs, but there has been some optimism that he could commit his future to the club after reports of fresh talks.
A report from Egypt alleged that Liverpool had re-opened negotiations with Salah's agent Remy Abbas in a bid to salvage last-minute hopes of keeping the 32-year-old.
Salah has enjoyed an incredible season in front of goal for Liverpool, scoring 32 times to help Arne Slot's side go 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League, but has repeatedly stated he will be leaving the club this summer when his contract expires. The Saudi Pro League appears to be the most likely destination should he depart as it is one of the only places that could satisfy Salah's lucrative salary demands.
A report from the Telegraph says the SPL are confident that Salah remains interesting in signing for one of their clubs, with lines of communication with officials remaining "open".

He has strongly been linked with Al-Hilal, with Salah seen as a direct replacement for Neymar after his departure in January, but the report adds the is "little chance" he will join in time for the Club World Cup in the United States.
It adds that there is a new contract offer from Liverpool that has been submitted to Salah and his representatives - and that the forward's priority is to hear what Liverpool have to say. But it goes on to say that SPL chiefs still believe he will join their league this summer when his Liverpool contract has expired.
Salah is one of three senior players who will become free agents in the summer, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold - who looks likely to join Real Madrid - and Virgil van Dijk. For the Dutchman, there is growing optimism he will commit his future to Liverpool after promising there would be news soon.

A new contract offer from Liverpool is said to be on the table, just months before the Egyptian becomes a free agent
Salah has won almost every trophy available to him at Liverpool and has scored 243 goals in 392 appearances since joining from Roma in 2017.
When he was asked again if this season would be his last at Liverpool - after previously stressing there was "no update" on progress over a new deal - Salah told Sky Sports : "So far, yes. It's the last six months [of his deal].
"There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see. The thing in my head is that if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say I was concerned or stressed about the contract? Or do you just want to say I had an unbelievable season? That's what is in my head.
"If I ever feel distraction, I just remind myself I want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season. That's what I want to do."
