Everton have decided on possible contract extensions for players whose deals are set to expire at the end of the season.
Idrissa Gueye and eight other Evertonians are set to become free agents this summer with The Friedkin Group planning a major squad overhaul, which could see several current players leave.
Abdoulaye Doucoure is set to leave Everton after the decision was made that the Merseysiders will not trigger a one-year extension in his contract.
As for the other players, David Moyes has hinted as to when new contract talks will take place.

New contract talks timeline
Everton were dangerously close to the drop zone under Sean Dyche. The former Burnley manager was dismissed in January and in came Moyes, who has done a sensational job since taking over the reins at Goodison Park.

The Toffees are on a nine-game unbeaten run in the Premier League and are 17 points clear of the drop zone. While the Merseysiders are in a much better position than they were under Dyche, the job isn’t done yet and Premier League safety is not yet guaranteed mathematically.

Everton have a lot of players set to leave on free transfers.
Gueye has been one of the key midfielders for Everton and played an important role in Everton’s resurgence. The Senegal international is in the final few months of his deal at Goodison Park and Moyes was questioned whether the 35-year-old would be offered a new deal.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Merseyside derby, Moyes addressed the contract renewals. He said: “What I do know about him is, I’ve only been here a couple of months to work with him and I think he’s been terrific in the games.
“He plays younger than what he is at times, in many ways. He’s someone who’s played well for us, he really has. I understand how well he’s done.
“We just need to keep going. We won’t be making any decisions on contracts until we’re mathematically safe so, we’ll have a look at all that when he get to that point.”

Gueye’s extension will be important
The Senegalese midfielder is one of the most experienced players in the squad and has over 200 appearances for Everton split between two stints.
While the Toffees have decided to part ways with Doucoure, keeping Gueye would be a smart decision despite his age.
The former PSG man provides defensive astuteness in the midfield and is capable of winning the ball back from tight spots.
While he may not be a starter next season, he can provide adequate squad depth and Moyes can rely on Gueye’s experience in tricky games.
Although the new owners’ approach is to bring in fresh and young faces in the squad but extending Gueye could be an exception as the Senegal international has rare qualities that will help the Toffees in the midfield.
