The NFL is upping its live streaming profile, reportedly adding a third game on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) that will be exclusively live-streamed on Prime Video.
The decision comes after Netflix secured exclusive rights to two Christmas Day games through the 2026 season. With Christmas falling on a Thursday this year, Prime Video secured the third game as part of its ongoing 11-year, $11 billion rights to “Thursday Night Football.”
Last year, the NFL debuted two games exclusively on Netflix, generating more than 24 million viewers for each of the games involving the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, and Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans — the latter featuring an exclusive halftime performance by Beyoncé.
No word yet on this season’s Christmas Day slate, which in the past has included the Arizona Cardinals.
In addition to Netflix and Prime Video, Peacock has exclusive rights to an early game in Brazil as well as a Wild Card game.
The NFL again will offer free over-the-air TV local market access to the Christmas Day games for those fans not subscribing to the aforementioned streaming services.
