NBA Hands Out Punishments For Timberwolves-Pistons Brawl

Last Sunday, during a game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Detroit Pistons there was an enormous brawl that even spilled into the stands. This brawl involved Donte Divencenzo, Naz Reid Isaiah Stewart, Ron Holland II, Marcus Sasser, and even some coaches got involved with Pistons head coach JB Bickerstaff and Wolves assistant coach Pablo Prigioni being involved as well. All the aforementioned players and coaches were ejected from the game, and their punishment would be decided over the next few days. This was the biggest fight in the NBA this season, drawing national headlines immediately.

Stewart has been involved in more than his fair share of dust ups this season, and he has somewhat built a reputation for being a tough physical player. The Pistons as a whole have built an identity as a young and tough team, especially on the defensive end and their performance there has been an integral reason for their success this season.

The NBA handed out punishments for the skirmish today and according to Shams Charania, Stewart received a two game suspension, Holland and Sasser received a 1 game suspension, and Divencenzo and Reid both received 1 game suspensions. Stewart received an extra game likely due to his role in the escalation of the brawl. With the season coming to a close soon, having rotation players miss games definitely hurts immensely.
