The New York Knicks will host the Philadelphia 76ers for their 75th game of the season. With the calendar flipped to April, playoffs are right around the corner, and the Knicks will look to make a deep playoff run as they currently sit as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.
However, the same cannot be said for the 76ers, as they've had far from an ideal season. Injuries hampered their season like no other, with Joel Embiid, Paul George, and rookie Jared McCain missing most of the season.
The Knicks have been mostly healthy, leading to their stellar season. However, as they enter this matchup, they will continue to be without their best player and All-Star, Jalen Brunson.
Brunson, who has been battling an ankle injury, is ruled out for this matchup.
On the side of the 76ers, they will be without their All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey for this matchup.
Brunson and Maxey will be out for this matchup.
Maxey is ruled out with a finger injury.
On the side for the Knicks and Brunson, he was recently cleared for sprinting and basketball activity. The 28-year-old told Stefan Bondy of the New York Post that he is looking forward to getting reps before the playoffs commence.
"It's good for me to get some game reps before we go into the stretch run," Brunson said. "But the most important thing is trying to be 100 percent healthy."
Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau has said that Brunson's next step is practicing.
"I've been able to move better and better each day and obviously going through stuff, things are sore, but the next day I see myself in a better spot than I was the day before," Brunson said, "so I'm just going to continue to keep progressing that way."
Maxey is set to miss his 16th straight game, and there remains no clear timeline for his return.
Head coach Nick Nurse recently expressed optimism that Maxey could return before the regular season concludes, but no definitive update has been provided. In the meantime, players like Jared Butler and Lonnie Walker are expected to see increased playing time.
The Knicks hold the No. 3 seed in the East, while the 76ers will look to finish their season on a strong note.
