The San Antonio Spurs will attempt to end their four-game losing streak tonight when they host the Orlando Magic at the Frost Bank Center. San Antonio’s losing streak dropped the team’s record to 31-43, which has them in the 13th spot in the Western Conference.
The Magic enter tonight’s game with a record of 36-40. Orlando is in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference, a game behind the Atlanta Hawks and a game and a half ahead of the Miami Heat.
In their last six games, the Magic have four wins. On the season, they’re led by Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner. Banchero averages 25.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists, while Wagner averages 24.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists.
In the first matchup between these two teams, Banchero hit a clutch jumper in the final minute to give Orlando a 112-111 victory. Devin Vassell led the way for the Spurs in that game with 25 points on 11-for-14 shooting from the field.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
Unfortunately, Charles Bassey is back on the injury report. After playing his first game in more than a month on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors, Bassey is out tonight with what the team is calling knee injury management.
In the blowout loss to the Warriors, the backup center had a block and a rebound in ten minutes of play.
Orlando Magic Injury Update
Like Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox for the Spurs, Jalen Suggs and Moritz Wagner are out for the season for the Magic. For tonight’s game, Cole Anthony is listed as questionable. Anthony is averaging 9.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 18.6 minutes per game.
Road to the End of the Season
After tonight’s contest versus the Magic, the Spurs only have two more home games left in the 2024-25 campaign. Of their next six games, five of them will be on the road. Their only home game in that stretch will be against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team with the top record in the Eastern Conference.
Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Magic
The Magic are favored by four points and the over/under is 216.5 points. The smart money is on the over. The Spurs are not a good defensive team right now, as evidenced by the 148 points they gave up to the Warriors on Sunday. While the Magic are on the second night of a back-to-back, they’re fighting for playoff positioning and should have enough energy to get in a shootout with San Antonio.
