Bulls Announce Josh Giddey News Before Raptors Game

Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls lost 145-117 Monday night to the top seed in the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder. After a four-game winning streak, this marks back-to-back losses for a Chicago team that is slated to be the final Play-In team moving into the postseason.

Simultaneously, OKC achieved its second-highest points scored in a game this season, as well as marking the 21st highest in franchise history dating back to the introduction of the Seattle SuperSonics in 1967 (via StatMuse).

However, Giddey was able to hold his own against the team with the No. 1 defensive rating in the NBA this season (via NBA.com). The former No. 6 pick in the draft out of Australia recorded 15 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds against his former team.

Giddey has really come into his own over the past two months by averaging 20.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game on 49.5% shooting and 45.9% shooting from the three-point line (via StatMuse). While he has continued to find his rhythm in Chicago, it appears the Australian guard could be limited moving forward.

Ahead of their matchup with the Toronto Raptors, the Chicago Bulls have officially announced via their official injury report that Giddey is questionable due to right hip soreness injury management.

While the questionable tag suggests nothing too serious, the Bulls have prioritized him as a focal point of their offense and need him if they want to advance through the Play-In Tournament. Although they sit 2.5 games behind the Orlando Magic for the eighth seed, it would be surprising for the Bulls to not be in the 9/10 matchup with the Miami Heat.
