Arsenal have been handed a potential injury scare after one of their key players was forced off in their game on Tuesday.

The Gunners, who are Liverpool’s closest challengers for the title, returned to Premier League action on Tuesday with a game against Fulham.

Although they took a first-half lead in the game, it wasn’t the smoothest first 45 minutes as defender Gabriel sustained what appears to be a hamstring injury in the 17th minute. The Brazilian limped straight down the tunnel after being replaced by Jakub Kiwior.

His injury will come as a huge blow for Mikel Arteta’s side, who face Everton at the weekend before a two-legged UEFA Champions Legue tie against Real Madrid.

Gabriel has been one of Arsenal’s key players this season. The 27-year-old, alongside William Saliba, has helped the Gunners concede the least goals in the Premier League this season.

Arteta’s side have conceded 24 goals this season, three fewer than Liverpool.

They trail Liverpool by 12 points, though, and if the suspected hamstring injury to Gabriel rules him out for a long time, it could spell huge problem for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, on the positive side, The Gunners welcomed back Bukayo Saka to the matchday squad after over three months.
