Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea could submit an offer worth €40 million to sign Villarreal attacking sensation Thierno Barry.
Chelsea are gearing up for another important transfer window where they will look to further bolster their squad. The Blues want to reinforce their attack, and according to a report from Fichajes, they are interested in the services of Thierno Barry, who has made quite a name for himself with his performances in La Liga.
On the back of an impressive season at FC Basel, the 22-year-old French striker made the move to Villarreal last summer in a deal worth just €14 million. In a matter of months, he has managed to triple his value, thanks to his consistent performances.
The French youth international has featured in a total of 27 league games and has contributed towards 12 goals (9 goals, 3 assists). His goal-scoring instinct and knack for unsettling opposition defences have caught the attention of several top clubs.
Chelsea want to sign French sensation Barry
Reports suggest he could be heading to the Premier League this summer. Chelsea are one of the clubs that are interested in signing him. They consider him an ideal fit for their project that revolves around signing young players with massive potential.
His strong physical presence, speed and finishing appeal a lot to the Blues who want to add more firepower to their attack. They want more options up top and feel Barry could help support Nicolas Jackson. They are willing to invest heavily in him, as they feel he is a striker with enormous room for growth.
The London club could end up submitting a €40 million offer to bring him to Stamford Bridge. It will be interesting to see if Villarreal are ready to part ways with the young striker who has proven to be a great investment in a very short span of time.
While people close to the player are excited about the opportunity of him moving to the Premier League, they will certainly consider everything before making a call. Meanwhile, Villarreal are open to listening to offers but will only let him leave on their terms.
