The Arizona Cardinals and Calais Campbell have agreed on a one-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the deal is worth $5.5 million and could reach a max value of $7.5 million with incentives.
Campbell is coming off a 2024 campaign with the Miami Dolphins where he registered five sacks, 12 tackles for loss and 12 QB hits.
Cardinals fans, however, will likely remember the six-time Pro Bowler for his nine-year stint with Arizona from 2008-2016.
Coming over as a second-round pick (No. 50 overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft, Campbell went onto appear in 138 games (120 starts) for the Cardinals.
His best season with Arizona came in 2016. Across 16 starts, Campbell racked up eight sacks, 12 tackles for loss, an interception and two forced fumbles. He was named a Second Team All-Pro for his efforts.
On top of his abilities on the field, Campbell was a trusted voice within Arizona’s locker room.
His 2019 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nod in 2019 as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars was further proof of that.
Calais Campbell helps solidify new-look defensive line room
The addition of Campbell puts the defensive line room in a very good spot after a busy offseason.
On top of the Pro Bowler returning to the fold, Arizona also went out and nabbed defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson this free agency. The Cardinals also bolstered their pass-rushing department with the addition of Josh Sweat.
They now join returners Darius Robinson, Dante Stills, Justin Jones, Bilal Nichols and L.J. Collier in what is now a crowded DL room.
