Patriots Mike Vrabel Discusses Potential Travis Hunter Plan

Travis Hunter is widely considered one of the top prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. The two-way star has been frequently predicted to land with the New England Patriots, who hold the fourth overall pick.

While many have predicted that Hunter will have to choose between playing wide receiver or cornerback, he has expressed his interest in playing on both sides of the ball. Mike Vrabel discussed the Patriots' potential plan for the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner during his press conference at the NFL's annual meetings, stating:

If he were on our football team, and showed great skill at one position, and started to really do well in his conditioning, and it didn't fall and didn't drop (off), we would be open to playing everybody we had at more than one position. Anything that would help the football team, I would be all in favor of. I think there's some things he can improve on by probably concentrating on just one position. But never going to put any restrictions on Travis or any player. We try as much as they can handle.

Hunter has not been shy about his desire to continue to play on both ends in the NFL. His college coach, Pro and College Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, recently made the case that the professional game is slower, in terms of tempo.

The two-way star finished the 2024 season with 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns, adding one rushing touchdown. Teams hardly targeted his side of the field on the defensive end as Hunter recorded 36 total tackles, 25 of which were solo tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, one game-winning forced fumble, and 11 passes defended.
