Now, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki. However, they could face interest from Premier League rivals such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
Rayan Cherki, who has long been rated as one of the brightest prospects in European football, has not yet managed to truly unlock his potential. Thus, the 21-year-old has so far not been seriously chased by Europe’s best, with Crystal Palace showing an interest in signing him during the January transfer window.
However, the France youth international have started delivering some serious displays for Lyon in recent months. With eight goals and 18 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions, the French-born Algerian has underlined why he is regarded as one of the hottest talents across the continent.

The creative midfielder will get a chance to showcase his talent on the big stage in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals against Manchester United later this month. Cherki recently delivered a rollicking performance in France Under-21’s 5-3 win over England, registering two assists and a goal.
The Lyon academy talent’s form have unsurprisingly not gone unnoticed. The aforementioned report adds that Cherki will enter the final 12 months of his contract at the end of June and has an agreement with his boyhood club that will allow him to move on for less than £25m this summer. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have also revived their interest by the versatile midfielder’s form.

In terms of the Frenchman’s positioning this season, he has largely operated either as a number 10 or on the right. This would be good news for Tottenham as that would allow Cherki to not only push Maddison but also cover and compete with Brennan Johnson on the right flank.
Plus, at 21, he has years of development ahead of him, and based on his sizzling displays, right attitude, mentality and approach in Lyon colours this season, Spurs simply cannot miss out on him.
