The New York Jets had a bottom-10 record in the NFL last season, and yet that wasn't their lowest ranking of the season. In the NFLPA's annual team survey, the Jets ranked 29th out of 32 teams overall.
"The New York Jets dropped from 21st last year to 29th overall this season. Rather than addressing concerns, players believed that management responded to feedback by making conditions worse. For example, after receiving low grades for their food program last year, players felt the team cut the food budget and did not retain their long-time dietitian, who was previously their highest-rated staff member. Notably, that former dietitian took a full-time role with the Kansas City Chiefs, contributing to significant improvements in their food program and dietitian grades." Read the synopsis for the team's grade.
Jets owner Woody Johnson, who had the worst grade out of any NFL owner in the survey, with an "F" rating, took exception to the survey. Johnson spoke to reporters in Palm Beach for this week's league meetings, telling reporters that the survey scores were "totally bogus".
"The whole thing. How they collected the information, who they collected it from, it's supposed to be a process where we have representatives and they have representatives so we know it's an honest survey," Johnson said, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. "And that was violated in my opinion. So I'll leave it at that. But there's a lot of owners that looked at this survey and said this is not fair, not balanced, it's not every player, it's not even representative of the players."
Johnson said he wants to have opposite ratings, wanting to be "No. 1 in everything."

The Jets finished bottom-10 in every ranking except for one: Nutritionist/Dietician, which is in contrast to the food program, which the Jets voted as the area that needs the most work.
"Unsurprisingly, when asked what needs the most improvement, players overwhelmingly point to the food program, although they are complimentary of their new dietitian. They also cite perceived top leadership issues, with some describing issues as 'top-down problems.' The Jets' ownership grade dropped from a B- to an F, with Woody Johnson receiving the league's lowest owner score for contributing to a positive team culture." Said the survey.
