Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Subject of Major Announcement

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has the "IT Factor" when it comes to finding the right coaches for his football team. Every coach he has hired has been to the playoffs at least once in their tenure.

It's Lurie's latest hire, though, that appears to be the best of them all.

Nick Sirianni was an afterthought when he was hired in 2021, but has become one of the best coaches in football. Sirianni has the second-most wins for coaches in their first four years of the job and has been to two Super Bowls while winning one for the Birds.

Now, Sirianni is in need of a new contract. And Lurie has made it clear that the deal will be done this off-season.

"Nick is going to be our coach. We don't talk publicly [about contracts], we never have, but you guys I'm sure will find out soon enough that Nick will be our coach going forward," Lurie said at his annual news conference at the league meetings. "He has done an outstanding job."

Philadelphia is also going to need to re-sign general manager Howie Roseman, but like Sirianni, those extensions are coming.

In the case of Sirianni, though, the former Colt has been one of the best locker room managers in team history. While he doesn't call offensive plays, he has been in charge of the best run in Eagles history.

And it's clear Lurie is pleased with his decision to hire him.

"Everything that I had hoped for with Nick, he embodies, whether it's connection, intelligence in so many ways from football intelligence, emotional intelligence, managing of people, hiring of assistant coaches, growth mindset at all times."
