Knicks Dealt Unexpected Injury Blow on Tuesday

The New York Knicks are in action on Tuesday night against a struggling Philadelphia 76ers side, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

The Knicks, on the other hand, have a firm grip on the No. 3 seed in the East as they enter Tuesday's game with a 47-27 record and a 3.5-game advantage over the fourth-placed Indiana Pacers.

New York, however, was dealt an unexpected injury blow just before tip-off. This comes in the form of Karl-Anthony Towns, who will now miss his first game since March 4.

The Knicks revealed the unwanted bit of news via social media as they announced their starting lineup against the Sixers.

Mitchell Robinson will take the place of Towns in the starting five after the five-time All-Star was officially ruled out due to a sore left knee.

At this point, Towns is also in danger of missing Wednesday's marquee matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who currently occupy the No. 1 seed in the East with a 60-15 record.

Towns now joins Knicks star Jalen Brunson on the sidelines. Brunson will miss his 13th straight game on Tuesday due to a sprained right ankle. The 28-year-old guard was recently cleared for basketball activities, and both Brunson and the team are optimistic about a return just before the playoffs.

For now, though, New York has no other choice but to go to battle without two of their best players available.
