Mike McDaniel (Kind Of) Gives Vote of Confidence on Dolphins Top Playmaker

Another day, another Tyreek Hill saga. After backtracking on comments that he wanted off the Miami Dolphins, the wide receiver is once again hinting at a change of scenery.

In response to several posts suggesting a trade out of town, Hill responded with his patented peace sign. This could simply be Hill engaging in social media banter, but it's unclear what his true intentions are.

Despite last season not going as planned, Hill has thrived with a healthy Tua Tagovailoa, surpassing 1,700 receiving yards in each of his first two seasons in Miami. This marks a significant increase from his previous career-high of 1,479 yards set in 2018.

When asked if Hill would remain with the team in the upcoming season, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel expressed a somewhat ambiguous vote of confidence.

According to Isaiah Smalls of the Miami Herald, McDaniel said, "I can certainly say with certainty that at this certain moment." He added, "We are fully planning to move forward for a better version of our relationship with Tyreek."

Known for his quirky way with words, McDaniel's statement isn't necessarily a strong affirmation of Hill's place on the team. It could mean nothing, but it might also indicate that the Dolphins are still contemplating parting ways with their top offensive player.

Trading Hill, along with his contract, would be complicated, though not impossible. According to CBS Sports, "Trading Hill without a post-June 1 designation would leave a $28.2 million dead cap charge for 2025. If they trade him with a post-June 1 designation, that would reduce to a $12.7 million dead cap charge and create $14.97 million in cap savings for 2025."
