SEC contender loses top scorer after declaring for 2025 NBA Draft

Mississippi State guard Josh Hubbard will declare for the 2025 NBA Draft, according to reports. He plans on maintaining his collegiate eligibility in the process.

Hubbard averaged 18.9 points during the 2024-25 season for the Bulldogs. The 5-foot-11 guard earned All-SEC second team honors for a second consecutive year.

One of the upsides to Hubbard's game has been his offensive consistency. He shot 34.5 percent from 3-point range and increased his overall shot selection over the past two years. However, he'll have to improve other parts of his game to be an NBA mainstay.

Hubbard rebounding production isn't there, and the ball often stops in his hands. He'll test the NBA waters but could be done at Mississippi State.

While he hopes to be in the league, the transfer portal could be calling if he goes undrafted. Regardless, if the NBA doesn't happen for Hubbard this year, he'll have two years of eligibility left.
