One of the top players on the Chicago Bulls will reportedly seek a deal that pays him $30 million annually in restricted free agency this offseason.
According to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, Josh Giddey is looking to get paid this offseason.
"Giddey, meanwhile, averaged 20.9 points, 9.8 rebounds and 8.9 assists in March and just beat the Los Angeles Lakers with a halfcourt buzzer-beater that won't soon be forgotten," Stein and Fischer wrote. "He'll be a restricted free agent this summer and is expected to seek a new multiyear deal that pays at least $30 million annually."
The Bulls acquired Giddey from the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2024 offseason. Giddey is averaging 14.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists this season while shooting 46.4% from the field, 37.6% from beyond the arc and 77.6% from the free-throw line.
As a restricted free agent, Giddey can sign an offer sheet with any team. The Bulls would have 48 hours to match the offer sheet or let the talented swingman walk.
Giddey has career averages of 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists with the Thunder and Bulls. He was the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
The Bulls traded Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings at this year's NBA trade deadline. They also parted ways with DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso last offseason.
If Chicago re-signs Giddey this summer, it would send a clear sign to fans that Giddey, Coby White and Matas Buzelis are the core players moving forward.
