Eagles ‘Aggressive’ Trade-Up Rumor?

With the NFL Draft just a month away, trade speculation is heating up across the league. While much attention focuses on potential movement at the top of the draft, the Philadelphia Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman could be eyeing a move near the end of the first round.

NFL.com recently proposed a trade scenario in which the Eagles would receive the 26th and 190th picks from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Philadelphia's 32nd, 96th, and 168th selections.

NFL Network analyst Chad Reuter noted that while Roseman took a break from his first-round trade-up tendencies in 2024, history suggests he may not be able to resist climbing the board this April. Potential targets could include one of this year's top wide receivers or additional talent for Philadelphia's defensive line.

Roseman has established himself as one of the NFL's most proactive general managers when it comes to draft-day maneuvering. His willingness to be aggressive has helped the Eagles secure premium talent throughout his tenure.

From the Rams' perspective, the proposed deal could be attractive since GM Les Snead and coach Sean McVay have demonstrated considerable success finding contributors in the middle and later rounds. Moving down just six spots while acquiring additional draft capital aligns with their historical approach.

Only thing that could stop this trade from happening is that the Eagles eliminated the Rams from the playoffs last season, which could complicate negotiations. However, the business side of football often prevails when both teams see value in a transaction.

While this offseason has been relatively quiet for Philadelphia so far, Eagles fans know that Roseman's seeming inactivity often precedes bold moves. With needs still to address and valuable draft capital at his disposal, don't be surprised if Philadelphia's front office becomes increasingly active as the draft approaches.

Roseman's track record suggests that when it comes to improving his roster, patience is just a prelude to calculated aggression.
