Iraola calls for positive reaction to City defeat in league vs Ipswich

The [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/) were eliminated from the cup at the hands of Manchester City on Sunday, after a disappointing second half saw them squander a 1-0 lead at half time, to lose 2-1.

But there is not time to dwell on the defeat, as they return to league action on Wednesday.

The Basque boss is hoping for a strong reaction to that defeat, to also restore some momentum to their league form, his side having won just once in the past six games in the Premier League.

“We want to get the three points because a point, we got a point against Spurs, but in this moment, what gives you a boost is the three points,” Iraola told the Daily Echo.

“We want to do it tomorrow, but we have to be humble.

“We have to do it at the end. Every point in the Premier League for me is very difficult, and when you are in your best moment, you have to do the basics very well.

“You have to defend well, you have to do your job well. We have to stay very compact.

“Let's do our job, make it difficult for the opposition and grow from there. I think in the moments where not everything is happening to your side, you shoot and someone scores top corner.

“And you have to do the basics well, I think.”

Asked how they respond mentally to the manner of defeat to City at the weekend, Iraola said they spoke briefly about it, but they moved swiftly on to preparing for the visit of the Tractor Boys.

“We finished Sunday evening the game,” Iraola said.

“I prefer to wait until the next day and we talked briefly about the game against City, but we were focusing on Ipswich.

“I think there is a part that you have to start preparing because we have a very short turnaround. Two days, already videos of Ipswich. Obviously, physically you cannot do a lot. It's a matter of recovery.

“Today in the evening we'll see who is with better feelings, how they've really recovered and then be ready again for tomorrow.

“Because I think tomorrow’s game is important in the way that we need to react, because after a hard defeat, I think next game is always important.”

AFC Bournemouth host Ipswich Town on Wednesday, April 2. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
