Sky Confirm That Liverpool Are One Of 3 Premier League Clubs Who Are‘Interested’In Securing£67M Transfer

Liverpool have joined the battle to snap up Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike this summer, according to reports.

Sky Sports Germany claim that the Reds are among three Premier League teams who are “interested” in buying the Frenchman, along with Arsenal and Manchester United.

Aston Villa and Newcastle have also been mentioned as potential suitors for Ekitike, but Sky say that both clubs have “little chance” of winning the race for the forward.

There will also be some competition from the continent, with Juventus believed to be in the mix as well.

What do Liverpool fans need to know about the player?

Ekitike first came to prominence at Stade de Reims, coming through the Ligue One side’s academy before having a breakout season in 2021/22, scoring 11 goals in 27 games.

It was enough for Paris Saint-Germain to come calling, and he initially made the move to the French capital on loan in the summer of 2022 before sealing a permanent switch a year later.

Things didn’t work out for Ekitike with PSG. He struggled to get minutes on the pitch, making 14 starts in total over an eighteen-month period prior to joining Frankfurt at the beginning of 2024. Since moving to Germany, the 22-year-old has developed his game, culminating in this campaign where he has scored 19 times in 39 appearances.

Ekitike won’t be available for a low fee

The interest from so many clubs means that Frankfurt have slapped a very high valuation on the France Under 23 international. Sky report it could cost as much as €80m (£67m) to tempt the Bundesliga club into parting ways with the player.

Whether Liverpool will make a concerted effort to sign Ekitike may depend on whether they deem him a more realistic target than Alexander Isak. Newcastle are expected to demand between £120m and £150m for their No.9.
