Trump Calls April 2 'Liberation Day'

Donald Trump has announced that April 2 will be called 'Liberation Day' as he will impose reciprocal tariffs and the official announcement is scheduled for 4 pm (ET)T at the White House Rose Garden.

Not just reciprocal tariffs but Trump also vowed to impose other taxes including high tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, sector-specific tariffs on metals, and, more recently, on imported automobiles.

The auto tariffs will be apermanent one on imported cars from Thursday, he reportedly said.

Trump also informed the media that he plans to impose tariffs on 'all countries.

“You’d start with all countries, so let’s see what happens,” Trumpreportedly said.

Trump said,“I haven't heard a rumour about 15 countries, 10 or 15…Essentially all of the countries that we're talking about. We've been talking about all countries, not a cutoff."

Trump has also mentioned that his tariffs are 'generous' compared to the taxes imposed on US by other countries.

"The tariffs will be far more generous than those countries were to us, meaning they will be kinder than those countries were to the United States of America over the decades," Trump had said.

"They ripped us off like no country has ever been ripped off in history and we're going to be much nicer than they were to us. But it's substantial money for the country nevertheless."
