**TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily)** — A former favorite for Arizona Cardinals fans is returning to the Valley. The team officials announced on Tuesday that they’re bringing back six-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Calais Campbell.
He was the Red Birds’ second-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami and stayed with the team for nine years. Campbell has spent the past eight seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins.
The 38-year-old Campbell started all 17 games in South Beach last year, where he had 52 tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble.
The one-year deal with the Red Birds for Campbell is reportedly for $5.5 million, with a maximum value of $7.5 million.
The 6-foot-8, 305-pounder was a rookie when the Cardinals went to the Super Bowl in 2009. He had 56.5 sacks, 42 pass deflections and eight forced fumbles in 138 games in Arizona. Those sack numbers rank third in the Cardinals’ franchise history behind Chandler Jones (71.5) and Freddie Joe Nunn (66.5).
He made the Pro Bowl during his final three seasons with the Red Birds and was named second-team All-Pro twice.
