Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount made his return to action in the loss at Nottingham Forest.
A tough loss for Manchester United away at Nottingham Forest at least gave one player reason to smile.
Mason Mount played his first minutes in 2025, following his aborted comeback for the club in December, where he trudged off early in the derby.
The midfielder was named on the bench against Leicester City, although was not used, and has trained successfully through the international break.

How Mount fared on comeback
The important aspect to note was that Mason Mount appears to have come through the game unscathed.
Mount came on in the 78th minute, playing the final 12 plus six minute of stoppage time, trying to help United to find an equaliser.
He was only involved in a limited fashion, making six touches, completing three of five pass attempts, and whizzing one low shot just wide of the post.
A dream return just evaded him, but there was something to be encouraged about, that he came close to making a decisive impact with so few touches.

Danny Simpson believes Mason Mount can help Ruben Amorim
Speaking post-game on MUTV, former Manchester United youngster and Leicester City Premier League winner Danny Simpson believes Mason Mount has a future under Ruben Amorim in his system.
Simpson said: “If I was him, with this formation that we are playing now, I think I’d be looking at one of them 10 positions that’s got my name written all over it, for the type of player he is.
“Whether it’s him pressing and being off the ball defensively, but and also offensively, getting in the little pockets, being clever, through balls.”
Simpson discussed that previously when he joined United, there was not a clear path to a starting spot, and now one has actually opened up for him due to United’s current tactical approach.
“It was very difficult when he came in, Bruno’s playing in a 10 at the time on his own, to replace, displace Bruno is difficult.
“But I think now with Bruno playing a bit deeper, options there’s real opportunity for him now under the new manager, because he likes him.
“He’s come up publicly and said that. ‘What more do you want?'”
Simpson adds that he is rooting for Mount to succeed, adding: “I know him, he’s a good lad, so I was really hoping now he can stay fit.”
David May wants to see Mason Mount show what he is about
Former Manchester United defender David May is a little more sceptical, and wants to see Mason Mount prove himself over the coming weeks.
He said: “He’s got to get to the end of the season now, injury free, playing games, so that we can all see what type of player he is.
“It has been so sporadic throughout the season. You know whether he’s fit, whether he’s not fit, comes on, pulls his hamstring, and you’re thinking it’s been a nightmare season for him.
“But if he can get the next seven or eight games under his belt towards the end of the season, the manager will have him in his thoughts for next season.
“He can start molding his team how he wants to play.”
